The second installation of the research project "Excavations II, Logos of Production – Production of Logos", focuses on visual identities, or more precisely, logos for businesses and industries in Croatia during the Yugoslavian era (1950-1990). Over the course of nearly a year's worth of research, Lana Cavar and Narcisa Vukojevic collected about 250 marks and logos reconstructed from original ephemera, archival materials and, mainly, pins. The collection is presented to the public as a graffiti installation on the walls of abandoned industrial buildings in Zagreb -- at the old TŽ Gredelj factory (Dan D, June 2013) and on the facade of the former Jedinstvo factory, today's cultural youth center Pogon Jedinstvo (Jedinstveno Jedinstvo, September 2013).
"Excavations" is a project concerned with the archaeology of design, conceived in phases, each of which is focused on one separate area of design production in Croatia in the Yugoslavian era (1950-1990). The first project, "Excavations I: Judge Book by its Cover" was launched in 2011 and it was focused on Croatian book cover design from the same time period.
