Galerija PM (PM Gallery), a contemporary art exhibition space in Zagreb, commissioned Lana to design their Annual Catalogue for 2008. The catalogue presents all the exhibitions held at the Gallery during that year (11 in total). The budget was tight, as was the time-frame for the project. The number of pages (168) and format (A5) was fixed with the printer before designer was even hired.
Lana divided the number of pages more or less equally between the 11 exhibitions (taking intro and colophon pages into consideration). To fit all the content into a fixed number of pages, the typography and image sizes shift from small to big. She managed to define 4 type sizes in total for the whole book. She chose a unique color for each show in order to differentiate them from one another.
Lana's decision to use the typeface Verlag was inspired by a story that ties the PM Gallery building in Zagreb to New York's Guggenheim Museum. According to legend, architect Frank Loyd Wright "stole" the idea for the Guggenheim after he saw this revolutionary rotunda building in Zagreb. Lana decided to steal back from the Guggenheim by using their corporate typeface, Verlag, which was designed specifically for the museum by the Hoefler Frere-Jones type foundry.
